Osseo Senior High School student named Triple A Award Finalist

Congratulations to Osseo Senior High School (OSH) student Michael James, who was named the Region 5AA Triple A Award Finalist. Each school in the state nominates one male and one female student, with the 32 finalists being selected from those students.

The Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award, commonly known as the Triple A Award, honors high school seniors throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher-grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.

James is a decorated member of the OSH band, participating in multiple groups including marching band, jazz ensemble and pep band, as well as All-State band. He is also a six year athlete and captain of the tennis team and was named the ‘Mr. Oriole’ recipient for his contributions to the boys soccer team. James participates in a number of Advanced Placement courses and National Honor Society at OSH.

“Athletics, academics and the arts have all been a substantial part of my growth as a person,” James said in his application. “The friends I have made in sports, classes and music ensembles have positively impacted me by challenging and encouraging me. Thanks to athletics, academics and the arts, I have grown considerably as a person with more determination and empathy.”

James will be honored at a recognition banquet in March, where League officials will announce the four statewide Triple ‘A’ Award winners at that time. Learn more about the Triple A Award and winners on the Minnesota State High School League website.
