The Osseo Asian Student Involvement Society (OASIS) at Osseo Senior High School hosted a May heritage event on May 12 as a celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander month.
The event included food, vendors, a fashion show and many student singing and dancing acts, often featuring songs from various Asian cultures and traditional dress.
The school’s OASIS group formed during the 2018-19 school year and has grown to between 60-100 members from Osseo Senior High School. This was the third cultural event they’ve hosted, and they chose to donate 15% of proceeds from the event to the non-profit organization Asian Women United of Minnesota, which is a safe living space for Asian women and children experiencing domestic violence.
